50c deck wheels
 

I have 2 50c decks and both have sloppy front wheels that roll at an angle. Is this normal or is something worn out. The inner holes where the bolt goes through is cone shaped. I have another set of MTD wheels off a later tractor that are the same diameter and shaped like a ball that are in good shape. I was thinking of using them for replacements.

Yep mine are the same on my C50 deck and I just ordered 4 new wheels two days ago, didn't ask a price, hope it's not a surprise.

on my 50 inch deck the wheels on the back are steel with rubber tread and they are 7 inch in diameter and they sell them at tractor supply, mine wobble as well and need to be replaced

I like that my front deck wheels have the grease fittings. They've lasted alot longer than another deck I had that had the greaseless fittings. I wish they made the rear wheels available with grease fittings, or are there some?

To me the 50A and 50C decks were not built strong enough for the weight and sooner or later the right rear wheel bracket gets bent or cracks the metal on the deck. I built additional brackets for support and while I was at it I decided to add front swivel wheels. I have tried the solid front wheels but they were always sliding. I decided to use swivel caster wheels for the front which I got at Harbor freight. The wheels are metal with solid rubber and have bearings in them. They worked so good that I bought solid caster wheels for the rear and just removed them from the caster mounts and bolted them direct to the mower rear brackets. I have been using them now for 6 years and they work really good and Harbor freight has them on sale almost all the time for around $4.00.

Since we irrigate here we have a lot of berms that I have to mow up and down and turn on and I never get any gouges in the grass since I added the front swivel casters. I liked the front swivel casters so well I added them to all of my 44A decks.

How do you get your deck on? Raise the front of the tractor?

I haven't mounted it on the tractor yet. Only removed it. That just required pulling the rear pins and sliding it forward to unhook the front hangers. Then I just grabbed the handle loop near the chute and dragged it out from under the tractor. I assume reinstalling is the reverse. I just bought the tractor over the winter so just getting the deck together. Had to put an engine in it first.
