New implement for the 1864...and just in time for leaf season!
 

I found this Cub Cadet (Agrifab) "Mow-N-Vac" leaf sucker on facebook marketplace. Like new condition and only used about 5 times.

This thing worked like a charm the first time out...not a single glitch! What a time saver too!

Got to admit, next to my 1864 this was the second best purchase of lawn equipment I've made!! :biggrin2:

That's a sharp looking 1864 there.

I bought a new EZ Vac almost thirty years ago. Very similar to what you have there. Cost me a lot of money then but it did exactly what the advertisements said it would do and one of my better lifetime purchases.

My leaves used to get a foot deep in some places. No problem. I cleaned a acre and a half, every year with the Ez Vac until a couple of years ago. I lived on the West side of 50 acres of woods. All the leaves came in my yard. A new subdivision and clearing of the trees eliminated most of the problem.

So, this year, I rigged up one of my 48" decks with the mulch kit and I get by with less trouble. The mulcher would never have taken care of the leaves I had before.

Great purchase and great looking equipment you have there.

Thanks Mike, for the info and compliments! Glad you don't have to work so hard to keep up with your leaves anymore...

Leaves can be a real chore...last week, before the leaf vac arrived, I spent 4 1/2 hours raking the front yard alone (leaves were very wet). The new vac is a BIG time saver...not to mention all the fun I have been having playing with my "toys"!!

That 1864 looks like it's brand new. :beerchug:

I maintain 4 acres with lots of trees and am adjacent to a state park, full woodland. Lots of leaves also. I collect the leaves with a TracVac. Works well. The chopped leaves go to the compost bin and around bushes as mulch.
Be sure to keep the expensive hose from dragging.

I'm in Ohio but I think that 1864 would convince me to drive to New York to pick it up, if it were available. LOL! Can't think of any other reason to make the drive. ahahahahaah! Ok, maybe to visit the owner of such a fine looking machine.

Thanks for all the nice comments, especially from senior members with so much experience working with Cub Cadets! I have read many of your postings and really appreciate the wealth of ideas and knowledge you have shared on the OCC website. It has helped me to better understand these machines when operating and doing restoration work on them.:ThumbsUp:

Hard to believe that I used to get excited about my John Deere machines...however, not so much anymore since restoring my Dad's 1641. Dad always preferred Cubs...He had a 129, then a 149 and finally the 1641. After he passed, I restored his tractor to "like new" condition...and during the process of rebuilding his 1641, I realized how well built Cub Cadet tractors were. Since then I have been more "turned on" to Cub Cadet equipment rather than John Deere.

Over the past two years, I have had more fun restoring a second 1641 and an 1864. These restored machines not only look new, they work like new as well! Hard to believe that the tractors in my "fleet" are over 25 years old! Gosh, I really love my MADE IN THE U.S.A. machines!!

I have an old Agri-fab and on the side of it I mounted a 8' or so length of 1" pvc pipe with a "T" fitting on it to clear any obstructions in the hose that can't be reached by hand.

I bolted the "T" fitting on instead of gluing it because sometimes the obstruction is close to the impeller and it gets dinged by the impeller so I figured eventually would have to be replaced.
