1872 Frame

The 1872 that I bought last summer does not have a metal piece attaching the right and left frame behind the rear end. I have looked at parts listings and they do not show one. I would think it should have one. Also when looking at parts listings, the 1872 rarely shows. Usually a list of tractors that a part will fit but not the 1872. Have I bought an odd ball tractor? I am going to sell it. Way too big for my property but It has a great ride and I fell in love with the power steering. Any help will be appreciated and have a great day.

What makes you think there should be a cross piece behind the rear end? The rear axle housing and the fender brackets seems to provide the support.

From looking at the "Cub Cadet Parts and Service Look-up" link above and with your model entered, I don't see any cross members (or any reference to a part thereof) towards the rear. Have you also looked at the fender assembly or the seat assembly (not that I see anything, but perhaps you are referring something different).

Are you talking the the plate that boxes in the rear of the frame? The 82 series did not have those from the factory but the holes are there and one can be installed from a Cyclops tractor. Hope this helps.

Is this the "plate" you are talking about ??

1872 Frame

Thanks for the input. Roland, that is the area that I was talking about. There are bolt holes on back of frame going in from the sides and not the back, I believe your picture was for a 3 pt. hitch. I would think that a back cover would help strengthen the frame and help keep it from twisting. I have seen other tractors, don't know if they were SGT's , that have this plate. I am new to an SGT and I probably don't know what I am talking about. Even if it is not needed, I would like to put one on with a draw bar and put a trailer hitch on. Does any one know if one from a different tractor would fit? Thanks for the help and a great day to all and I hope a better year 2021.

I installed a 3 point hitch kit from Xtreme Motorworks.

It is well designed. I like it.

For the (Time and Money)
It's worth it :biggrin2: for me.
Here is a Link to it below.

Here is my 1811 I once had. I purchased a rear plate from Rich Patton (a site sponsor) that was off of a cyclops machine. The same plate will work on your 1872 but the correct plate would be a bagger plate if you could find one.

You are correct as I pictured above. I am unaware of solitary plate that CC made just for aesthetics or additional support.

1872 Frame

Oak, the picture of your 1811 shows the plate exactly like I want. I saw one on eBay that looks like yours. Will have to see what it came off. I will also check the Sponsor that you listed. Thanks so much for all the help. Have a great day.
Getter Done, I will probably sell this tractor. Doubt that I could get my money back if I put that 3 pt. hitch on from Extreme. Thanks and have a great day.

1872 Frame

Thanks Oak, Just ordered one from Patton Acres. It is off a 2082 and they said it would fit the 1872. Have a great day.
