1772 hydro pump

Hey Guys!
We are rebuilding our 1772. We were having problems with stripping out the coupler on the drive shaft, could the pump be locking up? Also, the reverse speed of the tractor was always one speed - slow. Other than that no other indications the pump is failing.

Just looking for some advice on troubleshooting the pump or help making the decision on just replacing it while we have it out.

Diesels are very hard on the driveshaft components. Can you post a pic of the input shaft to the pump? Parts by Jeff (at the top of the page) can probably fix you up with some well built replacement parts if your pump isn't beyond repair.

(A) If the pump was locked up, you could not rotate the input shaft.
(B) Reverse is slower than forward.
