Generator not starting even with full charge on battery

I recently replaced the head on my Cub Cadet Original. Keep in mind the tractor was sitting for a while before then, with the battery still in it. I cranked the engine and it slowly turned the engine. I assumed that the battery was dead. After this, I foolishly charged the battery outside where it was cold. So it was hard for the battery to get a charge. This was in December of 2020. With all this snow we got up here on the east coast, I decided to put the cub and a few other projects away to protect them from the snow. Fast forward to now I charged the battery once again, this time inside where it is warm. I put the battery in the cub, pressed the starter button and nothing. Not a budge. I tested the battery with my multimeter and it had a full charge. I took off the belt and spun the pulley on the generator with my hand and it spun just fine. Anyone else have this problem and know the solution?:bigthink:

If your tractor has the original wiring, then the CCO has a "push to start" switch. Take your multi-meter, and check both large terminals on the push to start switch (when pushed in), you should 12V on both terminals. Do you have that ??

Did you put a "load" on the battery when you tested it with your multimeter?
Did you try to engage the starter with the belt off.
Did you inspect the battery and starter switch connections for corrosion-free and tight?
