782D Wiring ?
 

I tried to post a new message but apparently don't understand so hope you can direct me and maybe guide me in the following.

Hello,
The following is in reference to a red 782D Cub Cadet with the 3 cylinder engine.

Today, I replaced the roll pin under the battery box that supplies power to the drive wheels by means of the steel rod. Of course, I removed the battery and the battery box attempting to get to the broken pin. Finally, I was able to remove the broken pin and install a new pin.
After reinstalling the battery box and battery, the engine started with no problem. However, when I flipped the toggle switch to engage the PTO to turn on the blades, nothing happened. I looked to see if I had disconnected a wire in my previous task. I could find no wire that had been disconnected and decided to turn it off for a further examination. Still unable to locate any loose wire, I attempted to start the engine and nothing happened. No clicking of the solenoid or anything.
I contacted my nearest dealer and they don’t seem to have any wiring blue prints.
I was sure a wiring diagram had previously been put into a file in the computer but was unable to locate any.
Certainly would appreciate a wiring diagram and any guidance.

There is a "seat switch" with ORG & YEL wires that needs to engage for the PTO circuit to work. I would look there since the seat switch is in the area of the work you did.

In order to start the Tractor, the PTO has to be off and the LH brake pedal has to be depressed.

Let us know what you find.

782D woes
 

Hi, and I've run into this too. There's a connector on the left side of the dash tower that controls the PTO engagement. I think it's kind of "T" shaped. Mine will go intermittent from time to time as I think it's marginal for the application. You may have bumped yours doing your spirol pin installation.

I'll go see if I can find an image.

You may also check for a green ground wire, that may or may not have been lifted, that also mounts the seal in relay on the lower left of the steering tower. If it’s not hooked up, I don’t believe the PTO engages at all

This is a link to the Service Manual for the 82 series Cubs. You will have to register on the website but the manuals are free. It has the wiring diagram for the 782D.

That's correct on that PTO switch. I've had that switch have the same thing happen on the 782D, 1572 and 1772 that you are seeing on your 782D. One of the terminals always seemed to loosen up. I even bought a couple NEW switches online and the same terminal was just as loose if not looser than the one I pulled off the tractor. I ended up buying some NOS switches that seemed to be made better and have a tighter connection.
