3206 rear tires
I bought a 3206 a month or so ago. Went thru and replaced hydro linkage bushings, made adjustments, leveled the deck and it drives and mows great. The only problem is I have quite a few slopes in my yard and is seem when I need to back up I am always backing up a slope and spinning the tires even when using the diff lock. It has the original tires. I don’t think I need ag tires but read somewhere where Kenda Terra Tracs we’re good. Any suggestions?

My 3k's will do that sometimes. If your deck has the roller you may try and lift the deck when backing up. That deck riding the ground requires some good traction. But also your tires are 20 years old and probably hard as a preachers d*#k.:biggrin2:

What size does you tractor have?? My 3000 series tractors both have the 24 x10.5x12. The tires all say cub cadet. So either original or cc replacement. Some of the later 3000 series came with a slightly smaller tire and wheel. Probably cost savings for CC. More rear weight will help a lot. Used mine on the snow blower all winter with open differential and never had a problem on my small hill covered with snow and ice.
I would like to get a set of versa turfs, but can't find in my size. Then i would need a wider rim and different backspace to avoid rubbing on the brakes. So I just run as is. My blower tractor is not holding air well anymore. Fine most summer, flat all winter. Have to inflate the tire every time the snow files. https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/o...il/versa-turf/ |
I'm glad you started this conversation as I am interested in new tires as well and am struggling on what to get. Many tires don't come in a 24 x 10.5x 12. The terra tracs you mention seam to have the same problem. Not available in my size.
Could use a 23 x10.5x12, but I hate to go smaller. Bigger won't work for me due to the brake positioning. Your tractor is a bit newer and I think they changed the brake design. You may not have a clearance issue. |

If you get them please report back on how they mounted and work. My snowblower works well. I had to buy a second tractor to get the snowblower. It came with the blower and a sweet SIMS cab that I love. My cab alone weighs about 250 to 300 lbs. Plus 4 of the 40lb weights on the back. I have hills with a walkout basement and I don't have any problems with the original CC turf tires slipping or spinning out. My lighter tractor without the cab or weights will spin a bit more.
Do you have the hydraulic valves and front hitch? Finding a blower won't be that hard. The hitch and hydraulics will be harder and more expensive. |
