Kohler Command Sputters
I just picked up a pristine XT3. One owner and it has a new engine with 150 hours on it. It is a 2015 but looks like it is brand new. Here is the problem; it starts instantly with barely touching the key. Settles in to a good idle, so far so good. Then after about 15 minutes it sputters as if the choke is on. If the blades are running it will die. But it will start again instantly, run fine for a few minutes then sputter again. If you turn the blades off when it starts sputtering it will recover and carry on. The previous owner has impeccable records on it. The engine and compartment is so clean it all appears to be straight from the factory. Thoughts? Thanks!!!

First, welcome to OCC!
This sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Before digging into everything, check the gas cap and see if it's venting properly. If a cap doesn't vent like its supposed to fuel won't flow very well. If that isn't the issue or doesn't help, next thing to check is the fuel outlet on the tank. Make sure there's no gunk blocking the exit. And if that still doesn't help, check over the fuel lines and make sure they are all clear, and replace the fuel filter if you haven't already. Hope this helps! |
Thank YOU!!!
I did everything you said. Problem solved!!! Runs like a champ. Thanks so much!!!!!! :beerchug:
