Starter Generator Stud Replacement
Rebuilding my S/G on my 105 and need to replace the studs after 50 years, the threads are basically gone and no longer tighten. I have replacements from a ebay kit but what is the easiest way to do this? Looks like one is solder on the stud and the other maybe crimped to stud?
Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions? Looks like i need to remove the field coils to allow easy access to wires to resolder. Thanks |
I've soldered them, one has have to have clean studs and wire.
Use soldering paste and a big soldering copper. I actually prefer to silver solder them. Do make sure the solder or silver flows, don't "mud" them on.:beerchug: |
Thanks, that's what i was thinking but wanted to get some input first.
