Where do you store your Cub?
 

Wasn't sure where to put this thread. Just curious cause I've been considering moving my 129 to a (partially underground) basement garage. I run a dehumidifier a good part of the year but generally not during winter. Need some extra room in the garage (attached to the house) that it's currently in. Too damp for it in the basement garage? It's a garage space that was excavated out below where we added a sunroom addition. I actually wouldn't describe it as real damp cause I store all my swimming pool chemicals down there - some of which is dry powder and never had any trouble. It's a basically dry space and even following the recent storm didn't get a drop of water in it.

My primary Cub, 1864 remains in the garage. It is used year round for mowing, leaf collection and snow removal. The 1863 remains in the lower level of our ranch home with a walk out basement. Tractors rarely switch positions except for servicing during inclement weather. Snow plow resides in the garage. It is mounted in early December. The snow blower is also in the garage in case it must be mounted for a deep snow. Yard vac remains in the basement along with most Cub parts. The vac is being evicted to a shed as the wife wants the space.

My 1050 and 1711 are in the main garage. The 782 and 1811 reside in their barn.

My 1000, Is under an open shed roof at the end of our back porch. Stays mostly dry, with a few drops occasionally getting on it when the wind blows from the North.

Thanks for the replies. So if a barn and open shed are ok, I can't see why a garage under our sunroom addition would cause any harm. Has an overhead door and, as I mentioned, I run a dehumidifier nearly all year round. Hardly gets any water in it (meaning the dehumidifier!) once we get into later fall and into the winter. I have two tractors in my main (above ground) garage at present but would like to get one of them out of there to make more room - possibly for a car. There is a concrete ramp going down into the area I'm referring to.

My concern with storage is corrosion due to condensation or rain. The mechanical joints may be dry but raw steel due to motion during use. The electrical connectors can be problematic even if dry. If no condensation due to running a dehumidifier, then I would not be concerned with dry storage locations.

The working Cubs live in my shop and another out building out of the weather.

The H, the 100, and the 106 live in the center big shed with a concrete floor. the Cub lives in the left shed, along with a Husqvarna mower and old Troybilt tiller, on a dirt floor. The right shed is an office. condensation is a problem with the dirt floor shed, but the big shed is fine. I just pull the Cub out on nice days to reduce rust problems. I wish it were concrete, but that will have to wait a bit.
