Sundstrand model on a 125
For a Cub Cadet 125, would the hydro pump be a Sundstrand 15 Series U Type? If not, what would it be? I'm looking to get a seal kit. I have a leak and I know of one seal on trunnion is bad and maybe others on the edge of failure. I figured I might as well do the whole thing. Thanks!

Thanks, Roland....I went ahead and made a quick buy on ebay for a seal kit and got the last one! There were two kits when I asked. With a COVID supply problem, who knows when the kits will be restocked..... Maybe this week, maybe next year???

Will certainly be watching your progress on this job Billy O. I have a
125 with same issue on Trunion seals. Also my 1862 with same problem. Hope to address both over the course of winter. While you good folks have helped my confidence level 10 fold over the years. I am pretty unsure on tearing into the internals on the Hydro-Pumps. Good luck, let us know how it goes.:beerchug: Ken |

I'll post updates when I begin this hydro pump project in a few weeks. I'm a little bit nervous but I know I'll be fine! My experience with Sundstrand pump is nothing more than cork gasket replacement as well as pick up tube replacement. What I do know is that "CLEAN" is the big emphasis! That begins as soon as the rear is pulled. I have a nice Formica bench top to work on the pump. It is also emphasized that all the moving parts go back in same spot where found.... Even if there are identical parts! Stay tuned.....

Make sure it is super clean outside, before you remove the pump from the trans I break the bolts loose holding the pump halves together, but not to much.
Shine up your pump shaft with 400 grit before you remove the charge pump as it comes off first as you have to remove the gerotor retaining pin to separate the pump. From there the rest is easy as long as you are careful removing the pin holding the trunnion shaft. I did one today and made sure I did not hit the pin too far as it has to be centered on the shaft to be removed. |
