ISO mounts v.s solid mount
 

Well, I have noted a few folks around here telling of why iso is so much better than soild. I would think that iso dampens alot of engine vibration. And I think they are a good idea. Now I dont have a wf., but was wondering how good they are. On these new Cub Cadets, you dont see iso mounts at all. They are all solid mount on the 1000 series lt and hd's. At least thats what I observed today at the dealer, and saw only solid mount tractors.

Nearly everything today has a twin cylinder engine, and those are much smoother than the singles and don't need rubber mounts. The ones with the singles probably don't have them because those 1000 series tractors are also cheap, unlike the QLs back in the day.

The new single cylinders don't have near the torque shake either. My Mom has a 2166 with a 16 horse Kohler and if you bring my 169 up next to it, it looks like my 169 has a 454 or something in it. haha

i got a 1200 QL that has the ISO mounts and i got a 12hp stuffed in a 108 thats mounted firmly to the frame and in my honest opinion, they both rattle my tail pretty good. so when i rebuild the 1200QL this winter, i will not replace the mounts with the rubber, i will machine my own steel mounts. there might be a difference in vibration if i had the "perfect" yard, but i don't and even my parents don't and they have real grass!! LOL just an opinion. jeff PS hows the spacers doing??

My 149 has a good case of the "Kohler Shakes" at idle. My 100 has the "Kohler Shakes" since the motor went on steroids. Open the motor up and the "Kohler Shakes" goes away on both on them.

Something is wrong with your Cub if you have the shakes/vibration at wide open throttle. It could be the motor, transmission or driveshaft.

Thanks Matt and company for clearing that up. I realy missed that one, even though my White has the B&S Vangaurd. Just stopped in today to yak with my local dealer and to get a few prices on some parts. Jeffscub- spacers still work in progress.....I will have them compleated by sunday!

Mine all shake pretty gOod at idle but smooth out at about mid-full throttle. I know my motor mounts are bad on my 1650. When I put a new rod in it I think I'm gunna do the cradle upgrade and forsure new mounts

Mine shakes on start-up at idel only, nothing much to worrie me. Any ways, thats what I was telling German Cub{sorry, I forgot his name} the other day in his thread:" Tire pressure" I had let out some air up front to see if I could dampen the shaker a bit, It may have worked a little. Matt- If you forgot to disconnect the pos. battery lead, would that have caused a gremelin in the charging problem?{ If you welded on the tractor}

Yes, it would, but I don't weld on tractors...part that needs welding comes off.
