MTD Bought by Black & Decker
 

Apparently I missed this back in August. Stanley Black & Decker had owned 20% of MTD and has now acquired the remaining 80 percent. MTD is the company that owns the Cub Cadet Brand.

Yes. This wasn't really surprising, given how Craftsman is their love child in OPE, and being pushed really heavily. I wonder if they'll roll out 20v DeWalt based Cub Cadet cordless tools now :D

In all seriousness that would probably be an easy money making scheme for them. Cub Cadet is usually referred to as "high quality" by the average homeowner and if they rolled out Cub Cadet power tools, people would probably buy them just because of the brand name!

They already build Dewalt zero turn mowers, which are probably just MTD mowers painted yellow.

That is exactly what they are.

Personally, I think this acquisition is NOT going to be good for Cub Cadet. The "bean counters" will take an already dismal situation, and make it worse.
