Cub 149 with tiller
 

I recently purchased this 149 with a tiller. It has one extension on it. I have the hood, and various other panels and a coffee can of screws and bolts.

The guy I bought it from owned it 30+ years. Told me he got it at a farm auction his neighbor was having for $25 back then. He took it apart 10 years ago to do the head gasket and never got around to it.

I got it running for a bit and it does need a head gasket. From what I can tell, the tiller looks like it has never been off this 149. I looked up the serial number and this one was built in Dec. 1974.

It looks rough. I think it's worth fixing and getting running again. I was going to take the tiller off and put it on my other 149 or 782 (that requires changing the pulley).



I think for the price I paid, getting it up and running again and using it in my garden will be cool.

My other 149 has been plowing the driveway this winter.

Nice looking 149s. I've only ran a tiller on a 1282 and it pulled hard. Hydro lift on the 149 should be a big plus!

The hydro lift will be nice for lifting the tiller. I know it's heavy I had to winch it up on my trailer from the barn it was sitting in.

I've also never seen one with 1 of 2 extensions, but I guess that works? :bigthink:

Just a bit narrower is all.
You will likely need some weight on the front.

I made a custom front weight box for my 1650 and incorporated the mule drive into the structure.

If nothing else, it's a great place to put the larger stones you are likely to dredge up from time to time

It gets a good workout every spring around here as I do a few gardens locally and some are pretty good size.
