Hello from Idaho...need help with my XT1
I'm new here and cannot figure out how to post questions so figured I'd give this a try.
My XT1 is giving me some trouble. The blades won't engage when I pull the PTO and I'm in the 'forward' position with the ignition however, if I put the ignition in reverse and push the little yellow triangle button with the exclamation point the blades WILL engage. So to summarize, blades engage when I'm in reverse mode but won't engage when I'm in forward mode. Really hoping someone can help!!! |
Welcome to OCC.......... :Welcome2:
Some with XT1 experience will chime in. |
Is this while travelling both forward and rearward?
I would check the safety circuit (seat/brake switches). The intent of that triangle/reverse caution mode is to allow the PTO to stay engaged when reversing. The PTO should engage fine in forward mode as long as you aren't reversing (or the switch on the directional/hydro pedal doesn't think you're reversing). |
When I turn the switch to start the engine (ignition in forward position) and then pull the PTO the blades WILL NOT ENGAGE. When I turn the key to the reverse position and push the yellow triangle then pull the PTO the blades WILL ENGAGE. So in the forward postion blades don't engage however if I turn the ingition to reverse mode and then push the triangle the blades start.

Check that the forward and reverse pedals are both in the neutral position
Either cutout/safety switch may be your problem Oz |
Okay, so I've found that I can mow if I keep the ignition in 'reverse' mode. (I honestly never even knew or paid attention to the 'reverse' mode until now). When I start the XT1 and turn the ignition to the "reverse" mode, push the yellow triangle and pull the PTO the blades engage. I can go both forward and backward with no issues. When I turn the ignition to 'foward' mode the blades stop. The machine will not engage the blades while the ignition is in the "forward" mode. The blades only engage when in the 'reverse' mode. So I guess all is good if I just keep it in the reverse mode but if anyone has any ideas on why the blades won't engage when in 'forward' mode I'd much appreciate it!

Maybe the safety switch on the PTO went bad that happened to me on a 2010 JD la105... sometimes theres a safety by the reverse lever to make you hit the button for reverse id say jump that first and then see if it fixes the issue i dont know if the PTO switch is electric or a manual lever.... just my thoughts on my own interactions with modern machines

The forward/reverse pedals are in neutral or the tractor wouldn't start. The PTO switch is electric (it's a switch...you pull it out to engage the blades or push it in to stop the blades).
