Cub Cadet Hydro Trans 782D / 1864 Question

Question - will a hydro trans unit from a 1864, bolt up to a 782D rear end and work, without any modifications?

Looking on parts tree they both share some of the same part numbers. However some are different. The 782D has a smooth shaft for the driveshaft adapter, where the 1864 is splined.

I believe it will but the 1864 uses a CV type driveshaft so you will need to convert over to that type. (better design too) Lots of people convert to the Cv setup on diesels. What's wrong with the original setup?

Yes, I'm converting it to a CV driveshaft.

The other day I bought a complete driveshaft out of a 1864 (it came with the splined pump adapter also) to convert my 782D over to CV type shaft.

Instead of relying on the spiral roll pin in the smooth style pump adapter, I thought it would be a nice upgrade (and stronger) to use the splined pump adapter from the 1864.

I can get the 1864 trans cheap.
