1963 Cub Cadet 70 "Pinkie"
6 Attachment(s)
Long story short, went to a flea market today. Guy there had this Cub Cadet for sale. He was unsure what it was, I have determined it to be a 1963 70 with a dull pink paint job.
The story i got is that it was painted up for someone's daughter to use as a puller. Things didn't quite work out and it ended up sitting. The paint, which was originally orange, faded into the dull pink that it is now. The underside of the hood, gas tank, etc still show the original shade of orange. In accordance with the color, I have given it the nickname "pinkie" :biggrin2: I talked to the guy about old Cubs for a while. He was a real nice guy, and at the end of it he let me have it for $200 instead of the $275 he had on the price tag. Said he was glad to see someone young who likes these old machines :beerchug: Attachment 110808 Attachment 110809 Attachment 110810 Attachment 110811 Attachment 110812 Attachment 110813 the good: -engine (Kohler k161) runs good -tractor is overall in very good shape, very little rust -clutch seems strong -nothing is missing other than the PTO control linkage -hood is in really good shape -original tires are still in good shape -steering works very nicely the bad: -engine might need a head gasket, further diagnosis required -air filter is crushed, will need replaced -paint is not great other than that seems like a pretty decent little machine. There's still CC yellow underneath the orange/pink paint, might have to see if I can remove it and re-expose the original yellow. |
Looks like a winner.

You must be tickled Pink to find that gem.

My guess would be that is a one of a kind. Congratulations.

Nice score!

Great score for 2 bennies! I actually like the paint as pink. The only change that I would make is the top part of the hood, and probably 2" on the side would look great white. Kind of like a strawberry with cream. I think it would make a nice parade vehicle. You could also check local ice-a-cream shops to see if you could get a sponsorship for it and advertise for them during spring/summer parades. You could even make a little train of banana split boats to follow it. Good eye to spot those!
Or it could be like the Pink Panther! You could don a raincoat, hat, gloves and mustache in a parade as you play the role of Peter Sellers, Chief Inspector Jaques Clousseau! I think you have lots of possibilities with that new gem. Cub Cadet 123 |
Thanks everyone. Its definitely an interesting piece. I haven't had time to work on it yet.

Great buy! All she needs is a paint job :-)
You scored, brother! |
That’s pretty cool, I saw your video on YouTube too.

I ordered a set of decals for it. A repaint will be in order. Cub Cadet 123 got me thinking about choosing a color other than the traditional yellow, and I'm currently thinking that some sort of light lavender purple might look nice. Wheel rims and hood will still be painted white.
