Help identifying 70 or 100
7 Attachment(s)
I have had a cub cadet 70 or 100 sitting for a long time and am thinking about it getting running. I know pretty much nothing about any old garden tractors but am sure I can get it running again. It is missing a starter/generator and the part numbers are different so I have been trying to figure out what engine it is so I can get the right one. The engine tag seems to be missing or illegible. The manual shows the difference between the exhaust and carb but the ones on it do not seem to match the factory parts. The steering wheel doesn't appear to be factory as well unless it is the newer 100 wheel but I am not sure.

That is a 70 or 100 tractor, no difference except engine. Your engine looks to be not original since it is black,a 7 hp K161 or an 8 hp K181. Looks to be a non Cub Cadet spec engine because it does not have the gas tank (oval shape) mounts on top of the engine.Looks like someone attempted to use some gas tank mounts fram a later tractor off the battery box. The gas tank in the seat looks to be a 10 hp size gas tank. My guess is that it was a 100,the engine needed replacing and they just tried to use whatever engine they could get. Then the had to try to improvise a gas tank mounting position.
Of course the fenders, steering wheel and seat are not original. |
Looks like the wrong hood,too.
