124 no crank
Hello all,
I'm working on a Cub Cadet 124 that has sit for 10 years or so, has a new battery, and it will only start by jumping the solenoid. I replaced the solenoid, and key switch, still will only start by jumping the solenoid. I also cleaned the plug for the switch. I located what appears to be a neutral safety switch, that is pushed when the clutch is engaged. Is there anything else I may be missing? Thanks. |
Welcome to OCC........... :Welcome2:
Were the parts replaced with genuine Cub Cadet Parts, or aftermarket ? |
If I were in your situation, I would do the following:
1.) test ignition switch for 12V battery power coming in with test light ("TL"); 2.) test for 12V power going out of ignition switch with TL when key is in start position (I believe OCC 124 wiring diagram shows this wire as orange. And, (according to my memory) the orange wire goes from the starter terminal on the ignition switch to the safety switch. 3. test for 12V power with TL at orange wire on the safety switch. 4. The 12V power should leave the safety switch on the orange and black wire. Test for 12V with TL on orange black wire when safety switch is depressed. 5. Check to see if you now have 12V at the solenoid trigger wire (should be the orange/black wire). Let us know how you make out. |
