65 Cub Cadet 100 Plowing Snow
 

We had a big storm this weekend in Maine. 24+ inches storm total expected by tomorrow morning.

This summer my son bought a 1965 Cub Cadet 100. It has some cosmetic mods, like incorrect headlights, but we’re planning to restore it together. I also have an IH ’49 Farmall Cub and a ’44 Farmall M.

Anyhow, I can’t believe how much this little tank can push the snow! This was a wet heavy snow and it did just fine. It has tire chains, but no wheel weights. We’d like to put double rear wheels on next year, with weight.

I’m not sure what model this plow is, and if anyone can identify it from the video, that would be helpful. The tractor needs to be gone through completely, but it’s amazing how well it did! My son put about 5 hours on it this weekend. It really exceeded our expectations because the snow was just so wet and heavy.

That's the standard 42" IH plow by the looks of it.
I'd forget the duals and add some weight instead.
The duals, IMHO, will only be more of a hindrance as you will always be running over an un-plowed path with them.
Unless to step up to a 54" blade.

A Late Friend of Mine Bought a Model 70 New In 1963 and all he used for plowing was chains, He never bought any Ballast. He was a Bit on the Cheap side, it had a cigarette lighter But No headlights. I Now Have it and haven't Used it for Plowing snow, though. I bought a 1970 Cub Cadet 106 in 2003 from the widow of a Late Neighbor where I grew up. It came with a QA36A Thrower, which I used for 11 years Until I Bought a snow Blower for My Deere X748 in 2014. Now I have Many Modern Deere and Cub Cadet Machines that I use for snow removal. But have always wanted to try a front Blade On the 106 which I will use this year, if it even snows here. But I run AGs and a Bolens frame weight on the 106. Ran chains & Terra Grips for Years and would also run Deere 50lb wheel weights on the 106, and it was Practically Unstoppable with the frame weight & 50Lb wheel weights Throwing snow.

Cub Cadet XT3GSX with 46-inch Front Blade(eventually will be replaced with Bercomac Rotary Broom)

I used my 102 for snow plowing last year for the first time. I was really impressed too. I have double cast iron wheel weights on ag type tires with chains. It came with a set of turf tires too but I put the ags on for the winter. Not sure if its really necessary but I like the way it looks. I can’t run them in the summer because the deck won’t fit with them on.

Since Putting AG's On My 106 in 2016 I actually haven't even tried to see if the deck works or Not with them I Put 23X8.50 AG's On the 106

Nice video. I was always impressed what my 1282 would push back when I was your son's age. I threw a plow on the 1811 just for shits and giggles this year...might clean up by the shop with it some :D

Boy the amount of snow Keeps Dropping! Your In the 3.8 Inch area and I am In the 3 inch area so that 1811 May Handle Your Plowing needs for this snow fall :ThumbsUp:

I have a Western MVP Pro Plus for my Silverado 2500HD :D

But the 1811 w/plow and 1862 w/ blower are fun to play with and make paths. Especially the blower unless it is windy out.

When I Lived In NY a Plow On a Pick Up was Useless On My driveway Unless You Plowed during the storm If You didn't. You Needed a thrower or Blower. When One Highway Guy( former soldier of Mine) was working His Highway truck could Handle the driveway after 48-inches of snow fell. I got rid of My truck Plow Years ago. It would Probably be fine where I Live Now. But Back In New York it was a Useless thing to Me On My GMC K3500 Traded that In for a Nissan compact Pick Up and Got rid of the Plow with It

Well None of the Cubs did snow removal Today, Just too darn cold this evening, ended Up Using My JD 2025R with Loader Mounted Blade and Heated Tektite Cab:ThumbsUp:
