Improving the steering on my 782
As the title says I happen to have a front axel from a 1535 and also the steering column. Would any of you guys know if the 782 steering would improve by swapping any of these parts.

The steering column will not work without great modification, as the Cyclops used a very short tube with the tilt steering. The front axle should be the super steer, which will raise the front end a couple of inches. I would use one of those Ross steering improvement kits along with a steering box from a 1989 model year Cub on your 782. They changed the ratio and they steer easier than the earlier 82 series boxes. Just the improvement kit alone with a properly adjusted and greased box will do wonders.

Good to know, thanks.

I have (3) 782's and I do not consider any of them a "hard steering" tractor. Now one of them needs some lubrication and some TLC, but the other two are just fine. Mind you, nothing like Power Steering, but easy to drive and handle.

I put a set of tri-ribs on my 782 and it steers like power steering. Front tires have a lot to say about how easy or difficult the steering turns.

I only brought this Idea up because of a past post that Sam has put up about a 1210 that he converted to 1641 front axle and I believe he used the steering box from the same tractor, and I already had all the parts, It wouldn't be hard for me to do.
