Does any body have a part number and source for the fuel gauge for the 1872 ? Amazon has one for about $40.00ish, wow thats pricey.

MTD 751-0226 / 951-0226 or 751-0226A / 951-0226A or Stens 125-280.
I have recently purchased from both MTD and Stens. The Stens branded assembly is made from the same supplier Kelch, and is substantially cheaper. If you shop around, one can be had for under $30. https://www.amazon.com/Stens-125-280.../dp/B000MC93ZY https://www.ebay.com/itm/31166577746...Bk9SR7iQ_ZblYQ https://www.ebay.com/itm/18403641666...Bk9SR9yY7pblYQ |
You will be lucky if they work more that a year or so.
I have bought a few over the years and none of the work worth a crap after a while plus they have a tendency to leak internally, fouling the lens and read out graph. |
When they quit making the float out of cork, the new material sinks in about 6 months.:bash2:

A few of mine are 3 years old, and no issues yet. I do not use any fuel with ethanol in it.
