Small Engine Show in Portland, IN

The show in Portland was very huge, as many of you already know. I had the chance to meet Mr. Merkle and see his modified 149 along with his custom hitch that he made in the back.....AWESOME JOB and a really neat ride!!! But unfortunately, I forgot my camera and my cellular phone wasn't transmitting signals very good.....not for sure why. One picture that I did manage to recover was worth my trip there alone.......Perhaps this should be the Picture Of The Month at the top of the forum page--What do you think?

Great pic, it's great seeing the Cub Cadet pulling the JD around! :IH Trusted Hand:

I spoke with a guy at the show who was a die-hard JD man and he said that he was ashamed to admit it, but when he pulls he has to use a cub cadet frame and rear axle, but paints it JD green. When I asked him why he uses the cub frames and axles (which I already knew the answer before asking, but I just had to ask anyway....:biggrin2.gif::biggrin2.gif::biggrin2.gi f:), he said that he had to if he wanted to win!!!

I have never understood why putting another brand down is good advertising. I remember going to my local Cub Cadet dealer to look over the new line. The salesman came out and begin to say how bad the JDs were. Turned me off quickly to Cub Cadets. I went to the JD dealer then and he just told me what features the Jd had - never mentioned Cub Cadet. If your product is good enough, there is no need to put down the competition.

With this in mind, I think Cub Cadet is good enough without ever falling back to the tactics of "dissing" the competition. So I would hate to see this picture or anything similar to it become the title picture. Why not just show a Cub Cadet plowing a field or blowing or pushing snow in winter, or something that's just shows how good a Cub Cadet is - period. Just my 2 cents worth.

A picture like this:

Here is the Cub that Cub Cadet 123 saw at Portland:

It didn't have the mower on the rear. I think Dad had a 3 point moldboard plow on it.

T-Mo:

Good looking Cub plowing...:IH Trusted Hand:

Yes, he had the plow on it:biggrin2.gif:. Is that a 10" or 12" plow?

T-Mo....we're just having some fun!! I wasn't serious about that picture being our picture of the month, that's why it says for "fun-n-giggles". It's like Chevy vs. Ford, both have their loyal fans and both have good and bad models and attributes. Just saw that and thought it might bring a smile to some people's faces, that's it.

Thanks Merk for posting that picture. It's an incredible 149!! I wanted so bad to get a picture of it, but all I had was my cellular phone and it just wasn't behaving well that day!!

That was a 12 inch plow.
