Need help with K161

This is a new to me K161S engine. The engine was not running when I got it and it had a bad oil seal on the flywheel side, which I replaced. After replacing the seal I buttoned up the engine and was going to replace the points. When I went to install the points plunger, it goes in fine, but it will not go in far enough to allow the points assembly to be installed. I watched it as it rides the cam and it goes through the open and close cycle fine, the plunger just appears to be too long. I cannot see that anything is out of whack with the cam or inside the block. This is my first 7 HP Kohler - does it require a shorter points plunger than a K241? here's a couple of pictures

It uses a shorter plunger.

Well that explains that . It had me stumped. Do you happen to know the length off hand? I have a couple of the longer ones I could cut down.

I feel your pain, but old is good considering the alternative. Darkminion solved this one for me. Now to find one of the shorter plungers!
