127 Wiring Help
Looking for some help. My son bought a 127 that needs a lot of work but he’s determined to get it running. The wiring was a mess so I bought him a wire harness from Brillman. We have it connected correctly (I think) but when we connect the negative to the battery and then go to connect the positive, it sparks like crazy. We also put a new ignition switch in it from Brillman. The tractor does not have the neutral safety or lights, so we taped those parts off on the harness.
Any ideas as to why it would do this? Thanks in advance! |
Always connect positive before negative, and when disconnecting, remove negative first.

Something somewhere is shorting to ground.
Time to break out the ohmmeter and do some tracing to find out where before it's too late and you ruin something. This "new" ignition switch comes to mind here. Is it indeed a correct switch for this application? IH-607736-c3 "does not have the neutral safety" As in missing or non operable? That should be replaced as well. |

Thank you. It’s missing from the tractor. I will look for a new one. |

Does your voltage regulator have only three lugs on one one side or does it have three lugs on one side and a fourth lug on the underneath (bottom)?
