My Chainsaw Collection

Just thought I’d share my chainsaw collection. Does anyone else here collect chainsaws?

Nice collection. I don’t have much of a collection yet, but I have two older ones. A Homelite XL and an Olympyk. Not sure what model that is. The XL was my grandfathers that I found cleaning out his house after he died. My dad said scrap it, the motor was blown. I don’t like throwing anything away, so I figured I would at least clean it up and put it on a shelf. I had to at least try starting it, so I put a little gas in the carb, pulled the rope, and it started and actually ran good. Not blown up. It needs a chain to be useful, but I don’t really have any plans to actually use it so I haven’t bothered buying one yet. My dad gave me the Olympyk. He used it until about 15 years ago when he got a new Stihl. That’s the last time it ran. Shouldn’t be too much work to get it running again, I just haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.

The keyword is “yet” IHCubCadet147! I have a Homelite Super 2 which is similar to your XL1 that I’m selling parts off of on my eBay store.

When I was a kid, dad used a Mcculloh 47. He always told the story that when he was a kid he and grandpa were trying to cut a tree down before school grandpa got frustrated and went and bought the chainsaw. It never got used much as it was big and heavy and really not needed on our farm. My dad could never get the thing started and spent more time pulling the rope than he ever did cutting trees. About a month and a half ago I found it in the corner of the barn very dirty but it still has the logo on the chainsaw bar and is not beat up
My neighbor was more than happy to take it and hang it on the wall in his shop

Yeah, yet. :biggrin2: I’m always looking for more. I haven’t got too serious about collecting them yet, because I don’t really have a good place to display them. But I’m working on that.

I no longer collect, but still have a LOT. Some good Facebook groups for collectors.
