126 with k301a engine idle issue

Can somebody please help me figure out how to idle my tractor down some, it's cubcadet 126 with a k301a engine.

I'd be interested in some information as to how this high idle got came about and how high is this idle. Did this suddenly happened as if something broke or got stuck, or did you tinker with tractor and now that you have this high idle?

There are several approaches to remediate the problem such as adjustment to idle rpm, low idle mixture screw, vacuum leaks, lean conditions, governor adjustments etc etc..

Ok

I didn't do anything to it, when I first crank it, it's normal for a while. I'd say even a little after it's warm. But then after a little while of driving it, it starts to sound higher like about half to 3/4 throttle when my arm is all the way down. It was like that when I got it and I just want to fix it. I just need some help on what to do

Sounds like a governor issue.
Check the manual for proper adjustment.

What do you mean by "when my arm is all the way down"?
The governor arm?.
or the choke arm??

Maybe he meant the throttle arm?

Could you push back the throttle to closed position on the carburetor and the idle drops down? Either with your finger or screwdriver.

I meant throttle arm and when I drop it down it idles down some but not much.

I'm only 13 and I don't have much experience with these tractors yet so I just need a little boost on some stuff

Best to download the manuals for that Cub and read through them. You will learn a lot just by doing that.

BTW, the 126 is the 3rd rarest Cub Cadet produced with a production run of only 5,247 units built so they are not all that common.
So, take good care of it and please do not cobble it up!!

Here is a picture of my 126, restored in 2015

Just throwing out ideas here but it sounds to me like you have an issue with the throttle control not the engine.
The throttle should operate smoothly. If it feels like it is binding the cable may be kinked or have rust inside. Also inspect for proper attachment to the governor control arm.

Download the Kohler K Series Service Manual. It will show you the proper connection of the throttle cable and governor setup.
