M18 rear oil seal (behind pto)

Okay, I'm pretty sure I need to pull this new seal and trash it but I'll ask anyway.

I was installing a new oil seal behind the pto and drove it in too far and not straight. The manual says to drive it in 5/32" +3/64" -1/64". So if my math is correct that should be a max depth of 0.203". The 2nd pic is where I ended up at. I'm worried the 0.287 (at the 10:00 position) could possibly be covering the hole feeding the rest of the engine of oil but I don't remember where the passage is. Do I just drive it in straight or just pull it out and replace?

IIRR the hole on the bottom is a drain back hole to the oil sump.
if you want to remove the cover you can possibly push the seal back out without damaging it.
The seal is set in a bit to allow the centering nubs on the PTO clutch a place to set.
If the seal is not in enough,(not your case) the PTO when installed, will push the seal in to the correct distance. :bigthink:

Thanks George, I appreciate all your help. I didn't look in there to see how far back the drain hole was so I looked on E-Pay and stole this pic. You are correct again. I think I will just square it up in the bore and leave it.
