Loose PTO Belt for Walk Behind (CC 760 ES)
3 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I bought a used cc 760 ES Walk Behind Club Cadet Lawn Mower (Model 12AE764N056) last year mid-mowing-season and the PTO belt was shot. I replaced it with the OEM part (#954-04139). It worked fine but it was so loose that when I engaged the PTO the blades took a while to get up to speed and in high grass they easily got bogged down and slowed. It is spring and I want to fix it. The cables seem to be in good shape; no rust or fraying. They seem to be tensioned OK; when I engage them, the brake immediately comes off the drive spindle. Is there a fix to this problem? Is there a smaller belt I should be using? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Ben PS: I think I attached some pictures. |
Could the blades be slipping on the spindles??
Ive seen those square/star doodads on the bottom of the spindle shaft worn down to where they didn't grip the blade very good. Just a thought. |
@Ironman, Good idea. I replaced them last year and inspected the spindle shafts and they are in near perfect shape, so that is not the culprit.
