New to me 1200
I just got a 1977 C.C. 1200. It was a barn find. I have not yet tried to start the engine but it turns by hand and has compression. It would not roll and I removed the transmission to check it out.
I thought the internal brake was stuck but I have it apart far enough to see the brake rotor, which will not turn. Now I'm not sure the brake is the problem. I will look in the other end, the cover is already off, and see what the problem is. |
That's a nice find, good luck with with it.

I'm in unfamiliar territory now, never having disassembled a Cub Cadet rearend before, only switched out complete rears. I have the brake rotor out and am working on getting the brake pads/pucks out. The lever on the outside is frozen and I'm struggling, using heat and penetrant trying to remove it without breaking the ears off. I'm almost ready to drill it to aid in rmoving it, and making a replacement.

The adjusting bolt goes thru that groove. Make sure you have the adjusting bolt completely removed before trying to drive the pin out. |

I now have it far enough apart to replace the brake pucks. The lever is now free. Cleaning parts to prepare for reassembly.
