Hydraulic pump not lifting roto tiller
Good afternoon I'm a new member as of 5/2/2024. I purchased a Cub Cadet 100 mower with a 12 horse Kohler engine ( not original to the tractor.) The tractor is a 1964.
Yesterday I removed the Mower deck, the drive belt to the deck, and the rail from the tractor. The hydraulics were working fine before I did this. Today I attached the tiller partially and the drive belt to the tiller. The drive belt is working as it should but the hydraulic pump will not raise the tiller. As a matter of fact the hyd cylinder on the pump does not move. Any idea what I may have done in the deck removal process to cause this? One other thing I did was turn the large lift pin in the back that lifts the tiller by the chains end for end so the large holes were open vertical instead of horizontal. Does that pin have to be inserted in the shaft a certain distance? Hope I haven't rambled too much. |
My son just figured this out. He said it's a one way cylinder and needs weight to activate the down position on the lever. And when I took the mower deck off the cylinder was in the raised position.
Sorry to ask and answer my own question. Son is Brilliant. |
No apologies necessary. In fact, not only is it great that your problem got resolved, but even better that you posted your solution on here for others to read and learn from, too! Ideally, you want others to solve their own problems so that they become the problem solver they are supposed to be in life. It sounds like a win-win-win situation to me anyway, as you won by getting your problem solved and are off and running to till another day, we won by you posting your solution on here, and your son won by getting part of the best inheritance he can ever get---quality time spent with dad!
