Cub 108 Voltage Regulator
Doe any one know of a cross reference for the Voltage Regulator on a Cub 108? I dont want to spend 70$ on a V/R where i can get one at Amazon for half the price. I'm looking at this one..

They ARE NOT all the SAME!!
Make SURE you get the correct one and install it correctly. |
As noted one has to make sure on this one.
I would suggest you get the exact part number off the parts look up. ( Cub Banner at the top on home page) And work from there. If you get anything but an exact match one can be in for a world of problems that didn't need to happen. And it could certainly cost more than you want it to. Seems like everything does anymore. A 70 dollar regulator will seem pretty cheap compared to problems and 200 dollars worth of parts later. Ken |
Some Amazon stuff may be half the price but many times lead to twice the grief!

Voltage regulators for the older Cub Cadets can be an adventure. The regulator on my 125 went out back during the winter, so I ordered one from one of the advertisers on here. It came, I installed it and it worked for a couple minutes, then quit. It had all the right numbers on it, but was obviously not the right one.
I went to the local starter/generator shop that had always been dependable, told them what I needed, they said they had it and I brought it home. I hooked it up, but it didn't work. I called the shop and talked to the owner, he said "bring it back and bring the generator". He hooked it up on his test bench, checked out the generator, which was OK, but sure enough, it didn't work for him either. He then called the manufacturer and was told that "some units were wound wrong and got out into stock". So he tried another manufacturer, hooked it up on his test bench and that one worked. Moral of the story: just because the numbers are right, doesn't mean it will work. You may have to try a few different regulators to get the one you need. |

But then again a whole lot of working on things isn't all that encouraging some times. Did all the VRs have the same part number on? Just curious Ken |

The next two were from other manufacturers, but who those manufacturers are, I don't know. I just lucky to still have a good, local starter/generator/alternator repair shop that was willing to help. Without that I'm not sure how this would have ended up. |
A good starter/gen/motor shop is not something you find everyday !
Glad you got it going well now. |
