RZT S42 Deck Leveling Problem
I’ve had my RZT S42 for about 6 years. Since it was new I’ve noticed that the deck isn’t level side to side. The left side is about 1/2” lower than the right (measured at the blade tips with the blades perpendicular to the mower). Tire pressure is good.
I have tried to level it several times, but it’s at the end of the adjustment range. I’ve had the deck off a few times but don’t see anything bent, broken, or worn. And like I said, it’s been this way since it was new. And yes, I’ve turned the blades to make sure one isn’t bent, and I’ve checked it with several different sets of blades. It is consistently 1/2” lower on the left side. Any ideas what the problem could be, or what I could do to correct it? |
I had a newer style GT3100 that the deck was made very cheap and I actually bent the holes where the spindle mounted. I had to shim the spindle to get it to cut correctly.
You need one of these and a flat surface to park your machine on and measure side to side to make sure it is spot on. Then measure front to back and make sure the front is 1/8"-1/4" lower than the rear. ***all measurements are from the blade tip and check both sides of the blade. https://www.amazon.com/Oregon-42-095...a&gad_source=1 |
Yes, I’m measuring it correctly.
Like I said, it’s been this way since new. I noticed it the first time I cut with it, but didn’t have a chance to try to adjust it for a few weeks. When I did I found that the adjustment was maxed out. I’ve never hit anything with it. I don’t see any signs that the deck is bent. My guess is something is out of whack and the dealer did the best they could to level the deck when assembling it. |
