new member Leaking trans
Good afternoon people,
I just joined the forum and own a 2012 GTX 2100 which i bought new in 2013. It now has 425 hrs. and runs good. I do change engine oil and filter at least once a season blade get sharpened twice a year along with cleaning the deck as much. Changed hydro fluid and filter this summer and noticed that there was a lot of caked up dirt/oil on the trans. around the filter. While changing the hydro fluid I noticed a piece of black RTV squeezed out between the the 2 cast iron case halves and just knocked it off now I get a good size leak ( which from what I see is the seam leaking) will go through about 6 ozs. just sitting. Which leads me to the question, Is it worth dropping the axle and splitting the case or send it to the dealer and let them do it. I do not have any hydraulic knowledge so that's against me. Thanks for letting me join and look forward forward to chatting. Regards, Bob |
