105 1st & Reverse problem

Hi New to site,
I have a 105 that will not shift into 1st or reverse ? 2nd or third works fine.
very little movement. Has been sitting a while. rebuilt carb best i could. It will run with choke on. No air filter installed, need to find it? removed mower deck, seems to be in good shape. Should i try and mow with it? Ser. number is 105689 . Thanks for your help trying to figure out shift problems.

Kevin

Assuming it's not a 105, this post might help.....

If it is indeed a stick, if you take off the shifter plate the problem is likely staring back at you (the pawl on the rods in the transmission probably are broken, bent or loose on the Reverse and First shaft which should be on the right as you're looking down on it from the seat) . Should be an easy fix, but send a post a pic of you're stuck).

Carb should not need the choke to run if it's correct. Have you backed out both mixture screws 2 turns to start with?
