ULTIMA ZT1 50" blade question
 

I just got a new Ultima ZT1 50" ride on mower. I got under and looked to see if I have star or s blades and can't tell without taking off the blade. The bolt blocks the area so I assume it is a star. If it was S couldn't I see that? I don't want to have to take the blade off just to see what I have unless I have to. I will be adding mulching blades to run year round.

Any suggestions or ideas on finding out if its star or S blades?

Love the mower on my 4 acres.

I tried looking on eBay and it lists both blade types for your mower. You can take your model number and serial number and look it up on Cub Cadets part site.
I probably would just take one off and see, just to remove all doubt.

Thank you. This all seems crazy to me....lol I am sure there is a reason but it would be nice if this was standardized.

The S shaped blades on my SLX50 XT2 are for the quick attach blades.
Nice idea, but the grass and dirt gets up around the piece you push down to be able to turn the blade. Usually remove the deck scrape the stuff off of the shoulder of the quick attach and smack with a hammer a few times to change the blades. Great concept, not a good idea. Definitely not faster than zipping a bolt out with an impact.

My suspicion is that I will see the ones setup on the mower are star. The mulching kit and extra blades provided to me are S....Gonna have to return the S for the Star is my guess. Will take the blade off today or tomorrow and take a look.

I'm pretty sure the S style is the new style. If you just bought the mower, it should be S. The star style is the old style. I bought my ZT1 last spring and it has S.

There is a sticker on the underside of the seat on my ZT1 that lists the part numbers of all your main maintenance parts - including replacement blades. Your Owners’ Manual should also tell you which blade you have.
