KT17-Mag18 oil lines
For those that need an affordable option for replacement remote filter oil lines,...I thought I would post what I did recently.
I have had good success with the Goodyear Insta-Grip hose,...now Continental Conti-tech. 10' of hose purchased locally and fittings were an online purchase from a pex supplier. 1/8" npt - 3/8" barb at engine x 2 1/4" npt - 3/8" barb at filter mount x 2 3/8" hose Yes, you could use push-lok fittings. I opted for clamps. Parker 801 series is also an option for hose. I priced neither though... $23.50 for hose (10') and $12.14 for 8 fittings for two tractors,.....YMMV as opposed to new MTD lines ( 4 needed) @ around 150+ per. https://www.weingartz.com/PD/3105473...in-E-52-353-21 I like 18 bucks a tractor better. Hope this helps someone. |
I've just eliminted the hoses and used the kohler adaptor and put the filter
on the engine block, easy peasy & no cost if you have junk engines around. :bigthink: |

What is the part number on that? I had considered that, but was only finding stuff for the older 5xx and 6xx series... I'm guessing I wouldn't find one at sleazebay for less than the 18 I spent. Thanks |

82 755 23 there are prolly more numbers. IIRR I picked up a good engine block for $20 and it had the filter adaptor. seems like it was from a John Deere mower. I would be leary to use hose clamps on filter lines as they can easily reach#80 on a cold start. Better to use hydraulic hose with crimped ends. Ebay has several ppl that make custom lines, also surplus center has little hyd lines, but you might have to change the fittings on the remote filter housing and/or the adapter on the engine A lot of manufactures used that M-18 engine but its been out of production many years, and a motocraft FL400S has 2X the capacity and 1/2 the price at walmart. :biggrin2: |

I have run remote filters in high performance air cooled off road engines and have never had a failure with the Inst-grip 300. The purpose of my original post was for people with leaking factory lines and factory remote filter location, to be able to save money. Do you know of anyone on sleazebay or local that is willing to make up crimped lines for less than $20 to your door? Thanks for your input. |

Easy there drumbum. Surplus Center has 24" JIC 6F hydraulic hoses rated at 5800 psi for $10.30.
Do you have a link to what you used? What is the hose you purchased locally and where did you get it? Here's what I used but it was $39 shipped for 1 machine. Attachment 117604 |
