K321 Engine Rebuilder?

Does anyone know of a midwest shop that will rebuild my stock K321? I can find shops that will do the machining but none that will do a rebuild, start to finish. Yes, I could probably do it myself, but I’d rather not…

This guy provides an all ready to go re-manufactured engine and requires you to provide a good core block.
Don't know if he is mid-west enough for you but if you have deep pockets, take a look....

No kidding on the deep pockets!

Thanks for the reply. I’ve called and emailed Kustom a dozen times over 2 weeks with no success. Apparently they’re no longer in business.

I would personally take a hard pass on Kustom Lawn. They don't
answer the phones because they would have to answer for the way
they do business. As far a core goes they stole mine, never paid me
and refused to acknowledge my existence.

I'm told by the business across the street that the owner is again battling some health issues.

Based on both his website and conversations I've had with him, he's had some lengthy health issues in the recent past couple of years.

Apparently, a number of people have been contacting the business across the road - all searching for the parts they've ordered.

I'd love to find a place that will actually rebuild my K321 as I don't have the the time or inclination to bite off this project.

What was once a common thing, having an engine machined has
become a serious battle. My last 3 experiences at 3 different places.
Local shop ruined a 321 block I gave them to rebore.
Kustom stole my core. An built me a pretty substandard engine.
I now have the ruined 321 in a shop 100 miles away waiting to be sleeved.
It's been there for over a year.

I am toying with buying a Kohler block to replace a kohler 22 horse
with a cracked block.. I keep stalling for the mere fact I can find no one
who I can even feel good about working with. It has become the biggest
battle in this hobby. Please don't hesitate to let us all know if you find
the diamond in the rough.
I know none of that helps you solve your problem, sorry. Just venting.

Always take it to an engine rebuild shop, and they still exist. Regular machine shops are generally not equipped nor do they have the experience in engine rebuilding. Ask around on race, hot rod or vintage auto sites or clubs.

Try these folks here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Ask for their small engine guy
Sperry Engines
319-390-8636
They have done several for me. The machine work that is, I reassembled them myself.

Where in MN are you located??
