Just picked up a really nice 1864 to replace an old JD hydro 165 that I'm tired of working on. 435 hours, 42" deck, bagger (not pictured obviously) everything works, plastics are in exceptional shape. First order of business is head gaskets, previous owner thinks one side has a slightly blown gasket, he had a set just never got around to it.
After that I'd like to replace the craftsman seat and put a front bumper on it. Undecided if I want to look for an original cub bumper or Retrofit something else

Nice tractor. I hope for you the motor is just a head gasket. You should make or buy a bumper- the header panel and all the plastics aree a bit fragile and expensive or unobtainable. the bumper is easy to make if you can weld, less easy if you need to bolt one together. they are still around used and if oyu are lucky even NOS from a dealer.

For Bumper, check with this guy: https://www.ihccw.com/ He got 3 shipping containers full of Cub Cadet parts he hasn't even gone through yet.

Or consider this: https://www.xtrememotorworks.com/pro...08512242&_ss=r I have one on my 2182 Super, and it will work on your 1864.
