2023 XT1 50. Transmission By Pass Not Engaging
Mower has hydrostatic trans. Was mowing, then suddenly, mower stopped. Deck fully engages. Shut down deck and had to push mower by pulling Trans By Pass Rod. Moved mower, re-engaged By Pass Rod. Started Mower, depressed forward pedal, no movement, but there's a gear grinding noise in forward and reverse. Mower moves freely with By Pass Rod in or out.
Trans has right level of fluid. Drive belt is engaging with engine. No codes on display. 55 hours of use. Regular maintenance. Your input in greatly appreciated. BBH Big Bass Hunter |
BBH,
I am assisting my neighbor who has a 2015 XT1 Enduro 50. The issue is similar to yours in that there is some difficulty going in forward and reverse and the parking brake is sporadic. I posted the issue on this forum, in IH Cub Cadet Tractors (GT) on 4/24/2026, but have not received any replies. I referenced a 8/13/2024 OCC post by HAYS1 and a response to that inquiry was a rod, on the right side while sitting in the driver's seat, may have become disengaged. This rod, I believe, is linked to both the drive pedals and the brake. All the symptoms you described are similar to the issue we are facing except that there is a little movement in both directions. I'll be investigating further once I look at my neighbor's machine again. :bash2: |
Thank you Zack Aviator.
I'll check my mower... let me know what you find out BBH BigBassHunter |
Problem Solved
Turned out to be defective transmission. Opened a case with Cub Cadet; took it to local service center. New transmission installed within four days.

Were you still in warranty period (3 years?) and cub covered it?
Did you buy it at the big box stores or dealer? |
The transmission was covered under original 3 year warranty. I called Cub Cadet, they opened a case number. The service center worked thru the transmission exchange.
I purchased rhe mower from Tractor Supply. |
