RZT Series (RZT 50) tractor
 

This is a zero turn mower, called a "tractor" on the operator's manual. Hope I put it in the right area.

It has a Kawasaki engine. Purchased in 2006 and this is the first time I have had any problems with it.

The oil pressure warning light came on when I first started it up and it would slowly wink on and off. The first thing I did was to ground the lead that went to the oil pressure switch. It stayed on while grounded and OFF when open. Must be a N/O sensor? To confirm that there was oil pressure, I removed the pressure switch form the block, pressed my finger against the hole, and briefly started the engine... TREMENDOUS high pressure spray. The engine oil pressure has to be sufficient with all of that pressure!

Apparently the sensor is defective. What puzzles me is, Why does the warning light slowly wink on and off? Seems to me it should either be ON or OFF; especially if it stays ON when intentionally grounded.

Does anyone know specifically how this oil pressure sensor/light is wired to operate on this machine? I was thinking that maybe there is maybe something wrong (poor connection) between the indicator light and the sensor connection.

I went to a couple of the on-line parts houses to find a sensor but cannot seem to locate the part.
