Cub 2146 carb swap
 

"What carb can I swap in on this machine?" So frustrated with it. It lives at a rental with my son-in-law. I just want it to be mostly maintenance free. I will get it running then 3 months later no start. Pull carb. Clean all jets. Replace fuel filter. Replace fuel pump. Replace fuel float and main needle. Right now it's spitting fuel out of the throat. Float and needle are working and shutting off fuel though. New plug. New plug wire. New coil. Fiddle with it and might eventually get it running. Today it's surging while it runs. Governor going back and forth. Is there a carb that anyone knows of that can just be swapped in? I took the carb to the only cub mechanic in my area and the carb guy there said he thinks it's fine. Didn't charge me and I don't think he spent any time even trying.

Oh and I have also adjusted the valves.

Have you checked the compression. If engine is spitting out carb that could be an indication of bad intake valve(not sealing). A compression test would shed some light on valve condition.

If it has been using bad gas the sealing surface of the intake valve may be compromised.
