Jeep Pickup?
 

It's been a long time since Jeep made a pickup. Remember the Honcho, the Commanche. Check this out:

One more thing, the links are to the 2005 Jeep Gladiator concept. The report I read was from yesterday's dealer meeting where Chrsyler reported a concept similar to that Gladiator concept.

An old friend of mine has one of those old willys pick-ups and a panel truck. One has a hurricane in it and the other has the tornado power plant. I always thought the engine names were funny because neither is faster than a fart in the breeze. But they are great fun to ride around in, Throw the kids and the dogs on board and head for the swimming hole.

My best friend had a '59 Willys wagon when we were in high school. This was in the late 80's so it was pretty old then. We could get about 60 out of it down hill, but it would climd over just about anything...s-l-o-w-l-y. I briefly owned a '53 oickup about then too, but it was never drivable. Cool trucks.

A guy I worked for in Montana had one of those snub-nose van -like trucks with a factory electric winch and plow up front. By Jeep. That new Jeep is cool, looks like the old ones, I was surprised!

We have three Comanche's . The 91 is the metric ton 5 speed with a Dana 44 posi. 288,000 miles. Original clutch . It has been relegated to the property where our cabin is. My Sons 89 Comanche, complete restoration with a 4 " lift and 280 HP Stroker . My 92 that I bought and had shipped from New Mexico. I have a Dakota right now with the 5.2 5 speed,,,it's nothing compared to the Jeeps. Oh and my wife drives a Cherokee,,soon to be replaced with a Commander. It is a travesty that the Gladiator has not been built and the new Jeeps are all sissified . Nobody built better off road suspensions then Jeep. The 4.0 developed 90 % of it's torque at idle. The Comanche was so fast when road raced by the Archer brothers,that the class was nullified. I don't know why people spell it with two MM's ?
