New to CC and have questions

Hello guys and thanks for the site great info. I moved and needed a lawn tractor and I was blessed to get a Cub model 1000 built in 75 with a 44 A mower deck. I down loaded the manual for it but I need help. I tried to adjust the deck but the roller on the front keeps digging into the ground even tho I set the ecentric on the side to keep the deck at the highest level?? What am I doing wrong.

gearhead351w,

If I'm reading this correctly, are you saying that even when you have the deck raised, the front hits the ground? If that is the case, check the hanger frame. It works with a scissors action. If the fork at the rear of the frame was not placed properly over the solid rod under the tractor, it would cause the front to hang down. Also, the frame itself could be bent, or really worn at the attachment points.

I will take a closer look at the frame of the mower deck attachment. the roller that I am speaking of is the anti scalp roller right in the middle of the deck and its scalping the ground on the highest cutting setting.

bent blades?

even flat on the ground it should cut very short but not scalp the ground.
