IH CC 71 Oil leak

Here are a few picts., Looks like oil comming out of the points cover. Dont know yet where this is comming from, but its gonna get fixed before anymore use. Its not clear if the leak is comming from: oil breather vent, gov.shaft is a little wet w/ oil, but not alot to get the motor dirty, oil pan gasket? You can see the new oil down on the oil pan leg. Any ideas? Going to clean and let run to expose the leak.

johncub7172 more than likely your point push rod is worn and oil is seeping past the rod. Less than a $10 fix.

I was wondering.....

Because I know for sure oil is leaking from the points cover and nothing else. I was not aware, however, about the points push rod. I'am going to search and research this topic. Thanks cubs-n-bxrs!

The original Push Rods were made of aluminum. It was not uncommon for this aluminum to wear. The new replacement Push Rods are all steel.

Just for kicks, I took out a points push pin from the other k161 thats needs to be rebuit, and it looked good. So I swapped pins. I tryed to get a good pict. of the bad pin on the left and the one from the old motor. I could see how the leaking pin was "peaned" over and how the new one looked much better. I let the tractor run about 30min. and so far, no leaks! Thanks R.Bedell. Taken me a minute, the donation is comming! Thanks for the helpfull site::beerchug: Only Cub Cadets. net.!
