1811 w/45" snowblower belt problems
 

If anyone might be able to help. I just installed a 45" snowblower to my 1811. I believe it is a model 364? it is black with a full length frame under it. I had to make the rear mounting brackets and the front angle iron bracket. For some reason when I turn on the PTO the belt comes off every time. I can't see where there is anything seized up. there is quite a bit of play in the whole front PTO bracket where it connects to the front of the tractor. The angle iron brace in the front the aligns the front of the blower frame fits very tight over the frame. maybe this is causing it to push the PTO bracket where it shouldn't be. Also I did notice that the tension pulley for the belt seems to be slightly offset. If anyone knows much about these and could help me troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated. Also it is a brand new Dayton belt from my Cub dealer. they didn't have a cub one in stock. Thanks.

The correct belt would probably help. Is it tight enough?

the belt is what the dealer had given me as a cross ref. I think the belt may be a little loose. But it is difficult to put on around the tension pulley. I wandered if maybe the spring was wore out a little too. It jumps off immediately when the PTO is engaged.

Not all belts are created equal...just because it is the same size does not mean it is the same belt. Make sure all of the pulleys line up properly. When you made the parts that were missing, did you make sure you made them such that everything lines up how it is supposed to?

yes, everything for the frame mounts in the rear are good. I do agree that not all belts are equal. could the one i have have too much grip? The idler pulley sits slightly to the front, but the owners manually shows that as well. Someone seemed to think there should be a small belt guide rod but there doesn't show one in the manual. The belt mainly pops off the idler pulley. Maybe the spring is a little wore out.

Maybe I missed something but are you saying your useing a model 364 snowblower or belt? I have a model 450 snowblower for my 1811, it's white and does not have any kind of full length frame under it .Last year year was the first time I used it when I ran out of space to push snow and the weather man said we were in for it, and it works better than I ever hoped. If I'm way off in left field here it would'nt be the first time but it sounds like you have the wrong blower and it will take some time to dial it in.I would'nt think stock belts would work for a custom set up and little trial and error is in order.

The 364 and 450 blowers are quite a bit different. He's right, the 364 does have a frame that goes pretty far back.

okay, so I must have the wrong snowblower then. The guy i bought it from purchased it from someone else that told him it would mount up to his 2072 super garden. Well it didn't have any of the frame extension mounts with it to fit a super garden and i guess you can't get them anymore, He said it should fit mine. It lacked the rear mounts which we made ( being machinists) and the front guide bracket. on the front of the owners manual it says front pto kit 419 for 82 series tractors 1980 to present. I need to go see if there is any adjustments to the tension pulley at all and make sure it isn't on backward I guess.
