chain help?
 

I have a 782 cub with Ags, 80lbs. per tire wheel weights and 54" blade. I have two sets of chains but do not know what set is better? I want to sell off one set but need some input to figure out the better set for my rig. The chain on the left has less chain but have bar stock on them. The chain on the right has more chains but no bars. What chain should produce more traction?

The one on the right is better in my opinion..

The chains with the bars added usually give better traction, but unfortunately yours have 4 link spacing. The ones with 2 link spacing should work better with your ag tires because they wont fall down into the grooves of your ag's as bad as the 4 link spaced chains....its a trade off, but I would go with the 2 link ones.....

when i went shopping for chains i went with the v-bar chains, if you have any smooth surface that may build up ice they will break it up and get you traction faster the others will work well also. what chains do is break up the slippery stuff to get you down and digging, but you do not want to be digging up your drive.

if it were me i would go for the bar chains.

If you have an asphalt or concrete driveway, do not use the pair on the left, or you will literally dig a hole in the driveway if you spin a tire. The right pair will also give you a slightly smoother ride.

The left set is actually probably a set of car/truck chains. Most of them look like that.

It could just be your picture, but it looks like you have the narrow 8.50 Ag's. If so I don't think either set is going to work. They look like they are for 10.50 tire. But again it could just be the angle of the picture.

If they are the right size then I would go with the 2 link set. The ones on the right.

The 4 link set fits no problem. I have not tryed the 2 links yet but I guess that will be the deciding factor. I don't want to destroy my driveway either but I don't want to be getting stuck with this beast. We get allot of snow up here and can't wait to put it to work. :Cub8:
