tiller gearbox question

This may have been discussed before but I never could find a definite answer. What is the difference in the gearbox on a 1a tiller and the gearboxes found on the snowblower? I am needing one for the tiller and was wondering if the ratios were way to different to interchange?
Thanks in advance

:bigthink:

IIRC - BASICALLY.....the Tiller gearbox is a 3:1 ratio while the Snowthrower is 1:1 Ratio. A Snowthrower gearbox turns a whole lot faster.:biggrin2.gif:

Sounds to me like a tiller would probably break a thrower gear box.

Or burn up a belt real quick!!

Well that's not really what I wanted to hear lol. The tiller gear box is a hard find by itself. I purchased a tiller with the gear box but the gearbox was lost in shipping. So now I'm trying to make something work. I appreciate the info. Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks,
Will

Have some patience...they are on ebay frequently, I'm sure at least one of the forum sponsors would have one, and have you tried placing a want ad in the classifieds?

I had to buy one once and had no trouble at all finding one...

It was my findings that a tiller ratio was 1.5 to 1
and the thrower ratio was 2 to 1. for a QA42A thrower
They do show up on ebay, so be patient.
