Snow Blade Lift Rod with a lockout pin

I fabricated a new 1/2" lift rod for the 42" blade on my 1450 today. Nothing more more than a stock rod. I'm debating on adding a lockout pin for a little extra down pressure rather than just blade weight for peeling off snow down to the pavement. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't use the lockout pin unless you have a totally flat surface or like to replace a spiroid pin in the lift system.

I am siding with Merk on this one. You'll be replacing and repairing a lot of parts running with the lock out. I busted the bearing off of the left side of the frame/rockshaft when I forgot to unlock my blade this fall..
