Belt tensioner on 190-303 40" snowblower

I am replacing the belt tensioner at the back of the frame on my snowblower. I'm not sure how to route the belt around the tensioner. If you are standing behind the blower looking forward, the belt comes up and around the big pulley at the back of the frame. How do you position the tensioner pulley on the belt? should it go on the outside of the belt on the right side, or against the inside of the belt on the left side? Since I have no owners manual, any help would be greatly appreciated...

Im not completely sure as I don't own a snowthrower like that, but if the tensioner pully is flat, then it goes on the flat side of the belt. Also, the belt should be positioned so it wraps around the drive and driven pullies as much as possible. I hope this helps, I'm sure someone who really knows will be along shortly.

See if this picture helps you:

If you are talking about that tensioner, as you are looking at the picture the right side of the belt will pull over and go onto the left side of the tension pulley causing it to pull to the right applying tension.
